Accessibility
Graduands who require accessibility accommodations are encouraged to contact convocation@torontomu.ca in advance of the ceremony so that staff can provide information to help with accommodation requests.
The main entrance of the Mattamy Athletic Centre is step-free with automatic doors.
There are two (2) elevators available inside the building, both at the main entrance on Carlton Street, that provide access to all 4 (four) levels of the building. There are also escalators on all levels of the building, located at the south end of each level.
All washroom facilities are wheelchair accessible. The main washroom facilities for guests are located on the 4th floor. An accessible all-gender washroom is located on the 3rd floor.
Service animals are permitted. The Mattamy Athletic Centre is considered a TMU campus building and follows the Animals on Campus Policy which permits service animals but not pets within campus buildings. At the time of ceremony registration, we ask that graduands please let us know if they will be bringing a service animal. Guests do not need to notify convocation about service animals.
Live captioning and ASL interpreters will be projected on the stage screen in the Convocation Arena as well as on the live-stream broadcast. Links for the live-stream will be updated on the home page of the convocation website each day.
*Please note that captioning is live and will only be available once the ceremony begins.
Graduands can expect to be standing for extended periods of time during check-in and gowning in the Varsity Court. Graduands can find out more on what to expect by visiting the graduate checklist page.
Guests can learn more about general seating, photographs, flowers, diploma frames and other items using the resources found on our Information for Guests page
Please contact convocation@torontomu.ca for more information or to request accommodations.
Accessible guest seating is available on the 3rd floor. Any guests accompanying an individual with an accessibility need may sit in accessible seating together. Guests are not required to reserve accessible seating in advance.
The designated accessible seating area has space for stroller parking, walkers, and other assistive devices. To ensure the safety of all guests, any aisles should be kept clear of items at all times. Venue staff will be available in this area if you have any questions or concerns.
