TMU Velocity

TMU Velocity is an undergraduate student team at Toronto Metropolitan University aimed at developing autonomous vehicles. The team was founded as an initiative under the Autonomous Vehicles Laboratory (AVL) to introduce the fundamentals of self-driving to eager students. The current project undertaken by the team involves modifying an RC car for autonomous navigation to compete at RoboRacer competitions worldwide.

In the future, the team seeks to develop varying levels of autonomous cars in large-scale and small–scale applications to build a deeper understanding for evolving and emerging technologies.

About Us

The team was founded as an initiative by the Autonomous Vehicles Laboratory (AVL) to encourage students to get involved in autonomous systems. In 2024, the team became an official organization under the Metropolitan Undergraduate Engineering Society (MUES) to participate as an active student engineering design team.

With over 25 student members, our primary goal is to build competitive vehicles at various competitions around the world. Our members grow their expertise in several technical areas to create successful projects. We also host events to engage students to learn more about self-driving systems through workshops and events. This includes events introducing our team to students and small-scale workshops by and for Toronto Metropolitan University students.
