The ServiceHub has the answers you’re searching for!

Tuition. OSAP. Proof of enrolment. If these words leave you feeling a little overwhelmed, you’re in good company. Many Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) students find the administrative aspects of university daunting — but there’s no need to worry. If you know who to check in with, you’ll find the answers to all your questions.

If you haven’t heard of the ServiceHub yet, they’re the front-line service centre for the Office of the Registrar. If you’ve got a question, and that question has to do with tuition fees, OSAP, official transcripts and more, the ServiceHub has got your back.

I interviewed Victries, a fourth-year Psychology student who is the student ambassador at the ServiceHub. They gave me the run-down on what incoming TMU students should know about the ServiceHub. Check it out!

Ido: What is the ServiceHub?

Victries: The ServiceHub is the Office of the Registrar’s main service centre. That means it’s your go-to place for support with things like:

  • OSAP and financial aid questions
  • Tuition and fees
  • Requesting and troubleshooting official documents (like proof of enrolment)
  • General help navigating TMU systems like MyServiceHub

I: When should I use MyServiceHub online and when should I visit the ServiceHub in person?

V: Great question! You’ll likely use MyServiceHub, your online self-serve student portal, often — especially for requesting letters or managing your enrolment. But if something’s not working, or you have questions that aren’t clearly answered online, you should get in touch with the ServiceHub.

I: On that note… how do I get in touch with the ServiceHub?

V: There are many ways to contact the ServiceHub.

In-person

You can visit the ServiceHub in person at POD-150 (the Podium Building) on weekdays during operational hours. Just grab a ticket and wait for your number to be called. You should visit us in person when:

  • You have multiple or complex questions
  • You need a human to walk you through something like appeals, fees or letters

Phone calls

Call 416-979-5036 during operational hours. Give us a call when:

  • You have a quick or straightforward question
  • General “How do I?” questions

Chat

The ServiceHub’s chatbot is available 24/7 and is great for quick questions or if you need help outside of business hours. During business hours you can connect with a live agent through the chat. Click the icon of Frankie B. Bold in the bottom right corner of the Contact ServiceHub page to open the chat.

Email

You can use our  (google form) ServiceHub help form (external link, opens in new window)  and we’ll email you back in a few business days. This is a good way to reach us for:

  • Long or complicated questions
  • If you need to attach a document/file to your question

I: Are there questions that I shouldn’t go to the ServiceHub for?

V: Issues and questions related to your OneCard should be directed to the OneCard office, a floor below us in the Podium Building at POD-48. The ServiceHub also doesn’t generally help with issues related to residence, for which you should contact Housing & Residence. Finally, while there might be issues with your MyServiceHub portal we can assist with, larger account, browser or technical issues may require IT help from TMU’s Computing and Communications Services (CCS).

I: Any words of wisdom for incoming TMU students?

V: Apply for OSAP early — it makes a big difference! Also, look into applying for CareerBoost jobs on campus. I’d also say you should take advantage of TMU’s resources, such as Student WellbeingAthletics & Recreation (external link, opens in new window)  and Peer Support.

I: Finally, any favourite spots to eat on campus?

V: My go-to for cheat weeks is IKEA. I know you should be suspicious of the dollar hot dog, but also, it’s a dollar hot dog! I also really like Kinton Ramen on campus.

There you have it, friends! Thanks so much to Victries for taking the time to answer these questions about the ServiceHub — and for those food recommendations (IKEA happens to be a bit of a TMU lifeline)!

I hope you feel more assured knowing that the answers to many of your questions have a home — and that home is the ServiceHub!

Until next time,

Ido, your student ambassador
