Congratulations to Ted Rogers School of Management’s Dr. Rupa Banerjee for receiving the 2022 Dorothy Harlow Best Conference Paper Award from the Gender and Diversity in Organizations (GDO) Division of the Academy of Management.

Dr. Banerjee, the Canada Research Chair in Economic Inclusion, Employment and Entrepreneurship of Canada’s Immigrants, received this award for the research paper “Does Diversity and Inclusion include Immigrants? Employer and Skilled Newcomer Experiences and Perspectives from the Canadian Context.” She co-authored the paper with Aliya Amarshi (Toronto Metropolitan University) and Tingting Zhang (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign).

The Academy of Management is the preeminent professional association for management and organization scholars. The award recognizes the authors of the best paper submitted to the GDO Division for the Academy of Management Annual Meeting.

Dr. Banerjee’s primary research focus lies in the employment integration of new immigrants to Canada. She is particularly interested in the institutional barriers facing new immigrants in the Canadian labour market. She was named a Canada Research Chair in 2021, and is also an Associate Professor of HR Management and Organization Behaviour at the Ted Rogers School.

The Academy of Management awards will be presented during their Celebration of Success, in-person and virtually, on August 7, 2022.
