Mohamed Elmi completed his PhD in Information Systems at University of Cape Town and a Project Coordinator with the Ted Rogers School of Management's Institute for Innovation and Technology Management at Toronto Metropolitan University. Mohamed’s doctoral research focused on how Information Communication Technologies can further economic and social development in African countries. As part of his research, he looked at how ICT is used within communities that lack a defined and legitimate state apparatus, in an attempt to identify what role these technologies can play in building a stable Somalia. Prior to this, Mohamed completed his thesis Masters of Arts in International Development Studies at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia and an Honour Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of New Brunswick.
