Jean Mason, PhD (McGill), joined ProCom in 2005 where she taught undergraduate and graduate courses in business and organizational communication, science communication, communication theory, and professional writing. She was also a faculty member of the Toronto Metropolitan University-York joint graduate program in Communication and Culture.
Her research, supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Council of Canada (SSHRC), focused on health communication, writing media and technologies, and personal narrative. She served as Graduate Program Director of the Master of Professional Communication (MPC) from 2009-2012, and Associate Dean Faculty & Student Affairs of The Creative School from 2013-2016. Awards included the Yeates School of Graduate Studies (YSGS) Outstanding Contribution to Graduate Education award (2013), and the Carl Bode Most Outstanding Article of the Year award in the Journal of American Culture (2015).
