John Shiga is a Professor in the School of Professional Communication at The Creative School. He teaches courses on urban media, cross-cultural communication, knowledge translation, science communication, and communication for social change. He has published widely in the fields of media studies, legal studies, sound studies and environmental humanities. He is currently working on a cultural history of sonar which focuses on the role of acoustic sensing in Cold War representations and uses of ocean space.
