Gerda Cammaer
Dr. Gerda Cammaer is Associate Professor in the School of Image Arts at Toronto Met University in Toronto, Canada. She has degrees in Communication studies and Studio Arts (film production). She is a film scholar, curator, and filmmaker with a particular interest in documentary, ecocinema, mobile filmmaking, amateur films, alternative cinema and digital media, all subjects she has explored both as creative projects and as topics for her scholarly publications. She is co-author of Forbidden Love: A Queer Film Classic (Arsenal Pulp Press, 2015), co-editor of Cinephemera: Archives, Ephemeral Cinema, and New Screen Histories in Canada (McGill-Queen’s University Press, 2014) and co-editor of Critical Distance in Documentary Media (Palgrave, 2018). She has extensive experience with research-creation projects, both as an author and as a supervisor for which in 2016 she was recognized with the YSGS Award for Outstanding Contribution to Graduate Education.
