Kelly Read is a recovering theatre producer. She currently works as a project and general management consultant with Toronto Metropolitan University and others, and teaches at Sheridan College. She is a proud and vocal Board Member of Bad Hats Theatre, helping the world to find the extraordinary within the ordinary. Her leadership is collaborative and empathetic, with an emphasis on the importance of values-driven work, and healthy work culture. Most recently as the Executive Director at Why Not Theatre, an international performance company, based in Toronto, Canada, Kelly helped develop and execute critical company strategy motivated by a foundational desire to challenge the status quo in their sector. She has produced and presented sold-out and award-winning shows in seven provinces across the country, and more than seven countries around the world. Kelly worked with Toronto’s largest non-profit theatre, Soulpepper Theatre Company, for five years – both as Academy Producer, and Associate Technical Director. Kelly also has extensive experience as a production crafts person. She was a founding contributor to two new independent venues for creation in Toronto, and in 2017 received a Harold Award for contributions to the theatre community.
