Visibility is a topic studied in computational geometry and used in many applications, such as computer graphics, robotics, and manufacturing. Specifically two types of visibility will be discussed in this talk: k-visibility and visibility with reflection which are yet to be studied thoroughly. In addition to presenting the recent progress on the foundation of these types of visibility, I also explore some of their applications in control systems, search and rescue, and simultaneous and mapping and localization to which my group and I contributed.
