Inbound Exchange Programs
Explore the world at TMU
Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) offers exchange students a unique experience in the heart of one of the world’s most vibrant and diverse cities. As a global leader in experiential learning, TMU provides hands-on opportunities through internships, co-ops, and project-based learning, preparing students for the global job market.
Through our exchange program, you can study at TMU for one or two semesters while remaining enrolled at your home university. To be eligible, your home institution must have an existing partnership agreement with TMU. The credits you earn during your time here are then eligible for transfer and may be applied toward fulfilling the degree requirements at your home university.
You are eligible to participate in an exchange at Toronto Metropolitan University if you:
Are you currently a registered student at one of our partner universities (visit our Exchange Database (external link) for the partner list)
Have completed at least one academic year with a full course load at your home university.
Can conduct written and group work in English. All courses at Toronto Metropolitan University are in English. You do not need to submit proof of English proficiency. However, we recommend that all students ensure that their level of English meets Toronto Metropolitan University’s English language requirements for your selected exchange program (refer to the tab called "Undergraduate Degree Programs - Minimum English Proficiency Result Requirements" on the linked page).
Have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or 70% equivalent.
Are nominated by the office that oversees exchange at their university (our partner).
Contact your university’s study abroad office early to find out if you are eligible for exchange at Toronto Metropolitan University.
Get nominated by your home university
All exchange students to Toronto Metropolitan University must first be nominated by their home university to participate in an exchange.
To be nominated for exchange at TMU, students must first apply to their home institution's exchange program. Once the students have been accepted by their home institution, the institution will then nominate the students to TMU.
Complete Toronto Metropolitan University’s inbound exchange student application
All nominated students will be emailed the application instructions within 10 days of their nomination being approved, and will be invited to apply via the online portal.
Here is what you will be asked to submit as part of that application:
- A copy of your transcript
- Additional supporting documents as required by your program.
See the Dates and Deadlines section below for specific inbound application deadlines.
Acceptance
Applications will be processed once all supporting documents have been received and will be reviewed by the relevant academic departments for approval.
If the students are successful, they will receive an initial acceptance email, followed by an official Offer of Admission letter that they can use to apply for any necessary immigration documents.
