Good Food on Giving Tuesday
Ryerson community raises more than $22,000 to fight hunger on campus.
On November 28, Giving Tuesday, we invited the Ryerson community to support the Good Food Centre, which fights food insecurity for Ryerson students. Pitched against the mass consumerism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday was conceived as an opportunity to strengthen communities. And our Ryerson community came through.
More than 350 alumni, students, staff and faculty and friends came together in support of the Good Food Centre, and raised more than $12,000. The university promised to match the first $10,000 donated, so the grand total raised is over $22,000 – that will buy a lot of food for Ryerson students in need! Thank you to everyone who donated to the appeal.
Thanks to your generous Giving Tuesday support, more students will have more access to healthy, nutritious foods…for many Tuesdays to come.
