Peytec uses smart technology to tag and track inventory

If you’ve ever misplaced your keys or wallet, you know how frustrating it is to retrace your steps. Now imagine you own a company that ships nationwide and you need precise information about your inventory, from number and condition of items to their exact location. In addition to tracking movement along a route, you may need data about temperature, humidity, vibration, colour, light levels and much more. If only you had a way to tag your industry goods (and wallet) to transmit everything you need to know.
Enter Peyman Moeini, Biomedical Engineering ’13, CEO of Peytec Inc (external link) . Moeini’s company offers real-time data management via a range of connected sensors that seamlessly integrate with Internet and client systems. As the Globe and Mail (external link) puts it, Peytec’s electronic tags can be “customized for any variable a company wants tracked, simply by plugging in another sensor.” Sheridan Nurseries is one client benefitting from that customization. With over 1,200 growing acres in southern Ontario, Sheridan needs to monitor environmental conditions plus the exact location of its shipments across North America. Moeini’s tags keep tabs on what matters most to Sheridan and other clients.
