Cities and Technology: Foundations

Technology changes cities, and cities change technologies. This introductory course will explore the past, present, and future roles that technologies play in the politics, economics, planning and design of cities. How technology impacts how we move; where we live, work and play; and how we engage in city life will be explored. Contemporary challenges arising from new technology use will also be examined, including: big data, data governance, surveillance, and the impacts of artificial intelligence.
