Systems Safety

This course introduces principles and safety of materials science, manufacturing methods, structures, machinery, and electrical systems. The course covers properties of materials affecting their choice for different applications, performance of materials and structures, machines and mechanical components used for performing work and electrical power equipment. Emphasis will be placed on safety, reliability, failure modes, inspection and evaluation of parts, structures and systems and engineering approaches to preventing harm.
