Biochemistry II

This course is intended for Food and Nutrition students. This course begins with an overview of the principles of catalysis and bioenergetics. This will be followed by an examination of intermediary metabolism of carbohydrates, fatty acids and amino acids with emphasis on the regulation of these processes. Topics include glycolysis, the citric acid cycle and oxidative phosphorylation. The course concludes with an introduction to information pathways including genes, chromosomes, DNA, RNA and protein synthesis.
