Student Wellbeing Advisory Group (SWAG)

Student perspectives are essential for the planning and delivery of health and wellbeing services and initiatives at TMU. Each academic year, the Student Wellbeing Advisory Group (SWAG) brings together a diverse cohort of students from across TMU to help shape services, initiatives, and decisions that impact student wellbeing. Members share their perspectives, experiences, and ideas to help inform campus services, policies, programming, and wellbeing priorities.

Through consultations with campus partners and opportunities to identify emerging student needs, SWAG members contribute to conversations about creating a more supportive and inclusive university experience, ensuring that student voices remain central to decision making on campus.

Adeona

Adeona

2nd year Ted Rogers School of Management, Business Technology Management

Something I'm passionate about is disability advocacy, mental health support, sexual health support, and LGBTQIA+ rights. Being a part of the Student Wellbeing Advisory Group means that I can take action to improve support services for students and help foster an environment where everyone is free to share their feelings without judgement. Throughout my time in TMU, I  will continue to amplify the voices of marginalised communities who feel alone and misunderstood by the school system.

Rina

Rina (they/them)

1sy year Ted Rogers School of Management, Business Management

Something I'm passionate about is I’ve always been intrigued by the uniqueness of the human experience and by how differently each of us sees and moves through the world. As someone who has been a mental health advocate since my teenage years, growing up in a country where mental health was and still is viewed as a taboo topic, I’ve become especially interested in understanding the barriers that shape people’s experiences and limit what’s accessible to them. I believe that advocating for health equity — emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical wellbeing — gives us an opportunity to make meaningful changes, create more welcoming spaces, open more doors, and make the world a little fairer and warmer place for everyone.

Something I'm passionate about is student well-being and creating a more supportive campus environment. I’m passionate about working with others to identify gaps in existing systems, resources, and services and find practical ways to improve the student experience, helping students thrive both academically and personally.

Mustafa

Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science, Biomedical Engineering

Something I'm passionate about is understanding people, learning from different perspectives, and finding ways to make the communities I'm part of a little better. I believe everyone has their own story, and sometimes all it takes to make someone's day a little easier is having someone willing to listen. Outside of that, I enjoy cooking and experimenting in the kitchen (with varying levels of success). If you ever see me around campus, feel free to come say hi! I'm always happy to meet new people, have a conversation, or lend an ear if you need one.
