Critical Clinical Social Work

This course will develop a foundation for critical clinical social work practice within the context of social work values, ethics, and anti-oppression. Through a social justice lens, the ways in which social, cultural, political, and economic conditions shape the experience of vulnerability, need, and challenges in living will be explored. A range of practice approaches and skills are considered, including strengths-based, person-in-environment, the impacts of personal and collective trauma, self-determination, and the importance of narratives/storytelling.
