Elemental

Elemental analysis is the process of identification and quantification of the elemental composition of a sample. Three separate techniques are available for use, making it possible to choose what’s most ideal for the sample. These instruments are most ideal for fields in environmental, food science, and agriculture.

Agilent 240 AA

Agilent 240FS Flame Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AA)

Flame atomic adsorption is an excellent technique when you need to analyze/monitor one or two elements

  • FAA - Flame atomic absorption
  • N2O and Acetylene burner heads
  • Numerous hollow cathode lamps

External Users

$100 per hour

(The hourly price does not include the cost of standards, but does include air, acetylene, and NO2 gasses as required)

 Internal Users

A fee of $500 per year enables access to all of the Toronto Metropolitan Analytical Centre instrumentation. Consumables such as gasses, sample vials, or other required items are not included.

Agilent 5110 ICP-OES

Agilent 5110 Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES)

Rapid multi element analysis over a wide detection range are possible with the ICP - OES.

  • Inductively coupled plasma
  • Optical emission spectrometer

External Users

$225 per hour

(The hourly price does not include standards, but does include argon gas)

 Internal Users

A fee of $500 per year enables access to all of the Toronto Metropolitan Analytical Centre instrumentation. Consumables such as gasses, sample vials, or other required items are not included.

Bruker S2 Ranger XRF

Bruker S2 Ranger X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF)

The XRF allows for non destructive analysis of samples in the percentile or high ppm range. Multi element analysis allows for rapid analysis.

  • X-ray fluorescence
