John Stephenson is the founder and an oil & gas analyst at Granite Point Research Inc. (https://granitepointresearch.com (external link, opens in new window) ). John has extensive buy and sell-side experience most recently with BMO Capital Markets where he was a Transportation Specialist/Thematic Analyst within BMO’s equity research department (2018-2024). John has been a multiple award-winning portfolio manager having been recognized by Brendan Wood International (BWI) as a Platinum Class Top Gun Investment Mind for five years in a row (2009-2013).
He is the author of The Little Book of Commodity Investing (John Wiley & Sons-2010), which has been translated into six languages and Shell Shocked: How Canadians Can Invest After the Collapse (John Wiley & Sons-2009).
John holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, a MBA from INSEAD, as well as the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Financial Risk Manager (FRM) designations.
