My project is focused on using transmedia to increase discoverability and audience engagement with "Our Little Secret" an upcoming YA thriller co-authored with my son, Mikhael Klassen-Kay. Like one of the three teen protagonists in our novel, Mikhael is both transmale and on the autism spectrum. Our Little Secret deals with an important social issue faced by nearly 1 in 10 kids – being the target of sexual misconduct by their teachers. But instead of a feel-bad story, Our Little Secret is an oh-so-satisfying, darkly humorous revenge fantasy in the vein of Dexter. It  will be released by the Dancing Cat imprint of award-winning Canadian publisher Cormorant Books in 2026. I am also hoping that it will be adapted as a television series. Given that the audience is primarily teens, and that it deals with a serious social issue, albeit in the form of a lively murder mystery, my goal is to use transmedia to not just help potential readers find the book, but to increase their engagement and enjoyment of it, and ideally, to help build a supportive community and provide useful resources, similar to that created by Norwegian teen web series, Skam (Shame).
