Shaping top sales talent
Toronto Metropolitan University Secures a Top 10 Finish for Canada at the 2025 National Collegiate Sales Competition in Atlanta (NCSC)!
The Ted Rogers Sales Leadership Program, which blends academic learning with real-world experience, continues to make its mark in sales education. The program, founded by Dr. Karen Peesker, hosted the inaugural Canadian University Sales Competition (CUSC) at the Ted Rogers School featuring teams from nine universities. Toronto Metropolitan University took home the Overall University Champion title at the event and had top placements in both English and French Speed Sell, as well as Role Play competitions.
In November, the Ted Rogers Undergraduate Sales Team (TRUST) became the first Canadian team to win the prestigious International Collegiate Sales Competition (ICSC) in Orlando, outperforming 81 universities from the U.S. and abroad. TRUST placed in the top four for both the Sales Management Case and Role Play events – a feat unmatched by any other school.
These wins reflect the strength of the Sales Leadership Program and have been fuelled by growing support from generous donors and partners.

From alumni to advocates
Our alumni are changemakers on campus, in boardrooms and in their communities. Through mentorship, leadership and giving, they help shape the future of the Ted Rogers School, and uplift the next generation of leaders. Our school would not be able to advance its priorities without the strong support of our alumni and we are thankful for their support.
"It is my privilege to belong to TMU, a place that celebrates each individual's unique journey, encourages students to step beyond their boundaries and empowers lifelong learning. Here, diversity is cherished and potential knows no limits."

Ted Rogers School alumni are the backbone of the school community, and proud Finance graduate Vinny Bhathal embodies that spirit. As a Managing Partner, Chief Controller and Treasurer at Sprott Inc. and CFO of Sprott Asset Management LP, she brings the same dedication and leadership to the school as she does in her successful career.
Bhathal established the Black Excellence Scholarship to promote educational opportunities for Black girls pursuing Accounting and Finance programs. She has been instrumental as Chair of the Dean’s Advisory Council and a member of the Dean’s Circle, helping guide the school’s direction and supporting students through mentorship and advocacy, especially in advancing equity and inclusion.
Her ongoing commitment shows how alumni continue to uplift the next generation and strengthen the Ted Rogers School community for years to come.
Fighting food insecurity together
In fall 2024, Dean Cynthia Holmes and Ted Rogers School alumnus Leo Bailey, a first-generation Canadian, and the first in his family to attend post-secondary school, issued a simple but powerful ask to our community of staff, faculty, advisory council members and alumni: help students struggling with food insecurity.
And our community stepped up. Thanks to generous donors which included alumni, faculty and staff, we raised enough funds to support nearly 2,000 students facing immediate needs by providing gift cards to purchase meals on campus. It was a meaningful show of support that reflected our shared commitment to caring for one another.
"Being part of this effort reminded me why I continue to lean in. It inspired me to keep showing up as a mentor and leader in my own community, just like so many others did in that moment."

Building global connections for future leaders
The Ted Rogers School launched an exciting new partnership with Sandals Corporate University (SCU) in Jamaica, expanding global opportunities for students and faculty in hospitality, tourism and business education. The partnership will offer co-op placements at Sandals Resorts, executive education opportunities and cross-institutional learning experiences.
The collaboration also supports Sandals team members in advancing their education, aligning with Ted Rogers School’s mission to deliver inclusive and hands-on learning experiences. New programming, set to launch later this year, will cover topics such as digital innovation, mindfulness in leadership and big data in decision-making.
Reimagining Women in Leadership Conference
This year’s Reimagining Women in Leadership Conference brought together MBA students and industry leaders to explore the future of work and AI through keynotes, interactive workshops and a global case competition focused on advancing women in leadership.
With $10,000 in sponsorship from each lead partner, CIBC and CGI, this in-person event created space for bold conversations and actionable solutions, challenging outdated perceptions of leadership and championing equity in business.
In memoriam: Remembering friends of the Ted Rogers School
This past year, we lost two longtime supporters of the Ted Rogers School: Rashmi Gupta, of the Dr. Steve and Rashmi Gupta Scholarship, and Wayne McFarlane, namesake of the Wayne McFarlane Scholarship. We extend our deepest condolences to the Gupta and McFarlane families and are grateful to have had the opportunity to help honour their legacies.
