Graduate Field Education

TMU’s School of Social Work provides you with a challenging and rewarding opportunity to put your graduate training into action through field education. Through your graduate-level field practicum (SK 8105), you will gain new knowledge and skills that are critical for advanced social work practice. You will also make valuable professional contacts and explore possible career opportunities.

Field Education Schedule

As a graduate student, you will begin your placement in the second term and follow this schedule:

  • Terms: Winter and  Spring/Summer
  • Duration: January to June
  • Days/week: Three (typically Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays)
  • Hours/week: 21
  • Total number of placement hours: 450
