Dr. Safaa Blila
Safaa is the former Continuing Education Academic Coordinator for Arabic at Toronto Metropolitan University. She teaches Arabic Language and Culture courses at the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures. She holds a doctorate from Mohamed V University. Her doctoral research focused on the sociolinguistic situation in Morocco and issues of language planning, policy and linguistic human rights. She received a Fulbright Joint Supervision Scholarship (2011-2012) to complete her dissertation at the University of Arizona, College of Education. She has previously taught at Mohamed V University and Université Internationale de Rabat. She has several publications on linguistic human rights in Morocco, language planning and policy, and language learning attitudes towards English. Her ongoing research addresses teaching Arabic as a foreign language and Arabic heritage language learners.
