David Gauntlett
David Gauntlett is The Creative School's Canada Research Chair in Creative Innovation and Leadership. He joined the School in January 2018. Previously he was Professor of Creativity and Design, and Director of Research, at Westminster School of Media, Arts and Design, University of Westminster, UK.
Dr. Gauntlett is an internationally known author, scholar and educator, linking social analysis of the value of creative engagement, including the role of everyday creativity, with work connecting media and the creative industries.
Dr. Gauntlett has written several highly-regarded books, including Creative Explorations (2007) and Making is Connecting (2011, second edition 2018). He has consistently sought to connect research with people and organizations beyond the university sphere, and has collaborated with the BBC, Tate, the Crafts Council, and others. His strategic partnership with the LEGO Group and LEGO Foundation is now in its 13th year, and has led to reports, products and training that have been central to the development of the company and the Foundation.
