You are warmly invited to join us for the 9th Annual Future Communications Conference | Open House, hosted by the Joint Graduate Program in Communication and Culture at York University and Toronto Metropolitan University.
Theme: Encoded Worlds
Date: Friday, December 12, 2025 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. A reception will follow.
Location: York University, Keele Campus, Toronto
This year’s theme, Encoded Worlds, invites broad and imaginative interpretations of how cultural, technological, and media systems shape everyday life. We encourage attendees to consider how meaning, identity, power, and resistance are structured or disrupted through systems of communication, from infrastructures and policies to creative practices and emerging technologies.
The conference will feature graduate student research, creative work, and interdisciplinary discussion exploring these questions in diverse and innovative ways.
Attendance is free, and all are welcome.
