Giving
Migration has always been part of human history, and in the 21st century, it continues to shape societies in Canada and around the world. People move for many reasons - to work, to study, to reunite with family, or to find safety and stability - and their movement has political, social, and cultural impact on both receiving countries and countries of origin.
Today, migration has been revolutionized through increased global interconnectedness and advanced digital technologies, creating both challenges and opportunities that require informed responses. The Global Migration Institute at Toronto Metropolitan University is dedicated to producing rigorous research that will address the multifaceted impacts of migration
But we can’t do it alone.
From displacement due to climate change and conflict to the experiences of migrants seeking better opportunities and safety, the world needs evidence-based migration research now more than ever.
Your gift will fuel research that improves how migration is understood, governed, and experienced, strengthening responses to migration at local, national, and global levels.
Your support empowers the Global Migration Institute to:
- Advance cutting-edge research on migration and its real-world impacts
- Engage in domestic and global policy discussions to advocate for migration frameworks that are equitable, human rights-centered, and inclusive
- Translate evidence into action through knowledge mobilization and community partnerships
- Enable collaborative initiatives with experts from technology, migration policy, international law, and human rights to co-create solutions that connects research to policy, practice, and public dialogue
- Support the next generation of global migration scholars and practitioners through capacity building programs, graduate student stipends, fellowships, and collaborative opportunities
