Joseph Bakambu

Dr. Joseph Bakambu is a Sr. Engineering Manager of the Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) Department at MDA Space. Dr. Bakambu joined MDA in 2007 and prior to joining MDA, he did three years as a postdoctoral fellow at Canadian Space Agency. He is interested in Rover's autonomous navigation, planetary exploration, and as well as underground mine automation. He co-led the autonomous GN&C design for the Canadian Space Agency's Mars Exploration Science Rover (MESR) (external link, opens in new window) and Lunar Exploration Light Rover (LELR) (external link, opens in new window) . He also has more than two decades of hands-on experience with GN&C algorithms development, and the deployment of rovers in analog terrains.
