Biography:

Dr. Arthur Ryman is an Adjunct Professor at the Data Science Lab of Ryerson University. He is interested in both the foundations and applications of data analytics. He works as a software development consultant in the US water management industry. Prior to that, he was an IBM Distinguished Engineer and founder of the IBM Toronto Centre for Advanced Studies. While at IBM he also contributed to W3C, OASIS, and Java standards. Before joining IBM, he was the Head of the Mathematical Services Unit, WP Dobson Laboratory, Ontario Hydro. He obtained a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Physics from York University, an M.Sc. in Mathematics from London University, and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Oxford University (Twistor Theory), and held Post-Doctoral Fellowships at York University (Computational Atomic Physics), Memorial University (Quantum Field Theory), and University of Toronto (Nuclear Physics).
