Green Roof Performance Analysis Using High Resolution Spatial Data: Applications for Stormwater Modelling © 2008

Green roof technology has been implemented as a means of mitigating stormwater runoff in urban centers; yet to date there has been no hydrological runoff model identified in the literature that takes into account the amount of area suitable for greening atop buildings. Historically stormwater runoff models have been dependent on land use as an explanatory factor; therefore it can be hypothesized that the composition of rooftops and parcels should be variant across land use categories. This research paper outlines a methodology for creating a high resolution spatial database of rooftop and parcel composition as well as develops a stormwater runoff model utilizing the newly created data in the testing of green roofs as a stormwater Best Management Practice (BMP).
