The Impact of School and Community Characteristics on Standardized Test Scores: York Catholic District School Board 2000/01 - 2008/09 © 2011

One instrument available to assist school boards in Ontario with their ability to deliver effective programming is province-wide standardized testing. There are many factors which have the potential to influence a student's ability to achieve at or above the Provincial standard on such tests. This study explores how school - and community-level variables impact grade 3 and grade 6 test scores at schools in the York Catholic District School Board.

Through the use of correlation analysis and regression modeling, this study analyzes the test scores from the 2001/02 and 2006/07 school years.  This study indentified two school - and eight community-level variables that have the ability to impact student achievement.
