Our Immersive Language Program offers a dynamic short-term experience for student groups seeking a blend of language learning and real-world application. Rooted in the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the program combines interactive English instruction with hands-on, project-based learning. Students will develop their communication, collaboration and leadership skills while designing creative solutions to today's economic, social and environmental challenges.
The English Language Institute (ELI) is accredited by Languages Canada.
Program Details
Our Immersive Language Program includes up to 15 hours of global English competency, leadership and resilience education weekly. We offer two streams depending on the additional social and extra-curricular programming planned for your group. Both streams have options to include accommodations and food at an additional cost.
Full Stream
Includes a full schedule of social and extra-curricular programming each day.
Light Stream
Includes two afternoons of social and extra-curricular programming per week.

Upcoming Dates
Our programs are available in four durations (1-, 2-, 3- and 4-week lengths) within the following times each year:
Winter

Programming requests received after the deadline will be considered on a case-by-case scenario.
Program Outcomes
- Up to 15 hours of hands-on learning weekly, led by our experienced ELI instructors
- Global awareness, leadership and resilience activities
- Group and one-on-one conversation sessions to build confidence, fluency and effective communication skills in real-world contexts
- Workshops with integrated research and critical thinking tasks
- Interactive activities to practise listening and speaking skills, including debates, presentations and discussions
- Mentorship with current undergraduate students at TMU to support student growth
Our program introduces students to global education through the lens of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while simultaneously developing their English language proficiency and academic communication skills. Designed for students at the beginner to intermediate level, the program integrates language learning with critical global themes such as affordable and clean energy, industry, innovation and infrastructure, quality education and sustainable cities.
- Students will participate in cultural experiences unique to Toronto, such as visiting the CN Tower, St. Lawrence Market and the Toronto Zoo. Programs with a 2-, 3- or 4-week duration may include a trip to Niagara Falls.
- Personal development workshops will enhance student experience and engagement through reflective practices. Workshops may include Understanding Your Leadership Style, Conflict Management and Mindful Communication.
- Afternoon social programming fosters quality conversation among students. Social programming may include conversation cafés, game nights and karaoke.
