INSPIRE is a multidisciplinary research institute housed at Toronto Metropolitan University, committed to advancing sustainability through the lens of human behaviour and enterprise innovation. We believe that achieving sustainable outcomes requires not only technological and policy change, but also a deep understanding of how people and organizations think, feel and act.
INSPIRE investigates how individuals, institutions and markets can adopt more sustainable and equitable practices.
Our mission is to generate rigorous, actionable research that helps governments, businesses and communities make better decisions in the face of complex environmental, social and economic challenges. Drawing on insights from behavioural science, marketing, management, public policy and the social sciences, INSPIRE investigates how individuals, institutions and markets can adopt more sustainable and equitable practices. From consumer behaviour and energy use to responsible branding and sustainable business models, our research supports the design of interventions that work in the real world. We collaborate with public and private sector partners to co-create knowledge, shape policy and promote responsible innovation that benefits both people and the planet.
