Prospective Graduate Students
Dr. Mahdi Roghanizad is currently looking to accept new graduate students for the upcoming cycle (Fall 2026). Thank you for your interest in joining the CMIC Lab!
Research Focus: Group Dynamics in CMC
Dr. Roghanizad is expanding the lab’s research on group dynamics within Computer-Mediated Communication (CMC). We are particularly interested in how digital environments—such as video conferencing—alter fundamental social processes among group members.
Applicants interested in exploring the intersection of social psychology and organizational behavior within digital contexts are highly encouraged to apply.
Application Process & Interviews
To ensure a strong mutual fit between student and supervisor, Dr. Roghanizad follows a specific selection process:
- Pre-Application Interview: Unlike many programs, Dr. Roghanizad will interview qualified applicants before inviting them to formally apply to the program.
- How to Initiate: If you are interested in joining the lab, please send an introductory email (mroghanizad@torontomu.ca) including your CV and a brief statement of your research interests as they relate to group dynamics in CMC.
- Evaluation Criteria: Dr. Roghanizad looks for students who clearly articulate how their research, academic background, or professional experience prepares them for advanced study in this field.
Eligibility Note
Due to current university funding structures for this cycle, primary supervision is available for students who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
If you believe your research interests align with the lab’s expertise, please reach out early to discuss potential alignment before the formal departmental deadline.
