TMU ranks number one in student services in Canada
Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) has been ranked number one in student services in Canada by Maclean’s (external link) magazine in the Large Universities category of their 2027 University Rankings.
This is the second consecutive year TMU has ranked first in Canada for student services, reflecting the university’s commitment to investing in student resources. Previously, TMU was ranked number one in Ontario before moving up the ranking to number one nationally.
The annual Maclean’s University Rankings assess large, mid-size and small universities on a variety of indicators, such as retention rate, graduation rate, research impact, scholarships and bursaries, and reputation.
“Supporting TMU students is an essential part of ensuring their journey here is successful and reassuring,” said Roberta Iannacito-Provenzano, provost and vice-president, academic. “This recognition affirms our dedication to providing a holistic student experience on campus.”
TMU offers a wide range of programming and opportunities to help students succeed and make connections. The Office of the Vice-Provost, Students brings together Athletics & Recreation, Student Wellbeing and Student Affairs to support student health and well-being, personal and professional development, and academics.
Students looking for support at TMU have plenty of places to start, whether that’s Orientation (external link) , the Black Flourishing Conference (external link) , the Queer + Trans at TMU website, or recreational programming (external link) . In addition, TMU’s new Nadir Mohamed Centre for Student Wellbeing is scheduled to open in 2027. The state-of-the-art hub at the heart of campus will centralize all health and wellness-related services currently housed in separate buildings to improve access and service delivery for TMU’s growing and diverse community.
“I’m so proud of the work that we do at TMU to support students’ diverse needs,” said Jen Gonzales, interim vice-provost, students. “To see the efforts of our student services teams honoured and acknowledged in this way is incredibly meaningful.”
