TMU’s summer events bring the campus community together—whether it’s painting a mural, enjoying the Urban Farm or celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day for the entire month of June.
Summer has arrived, and TMU’s campus is buzzing with ways to get involved and soak up the season.
With activities for students, faculty and staff, there’s something for everyone to enjoy this summer. Take a look at what’s happening on campus below and visit the TorontoMet Today website for even more upcoming events.

Running through August 22
Group Fitness & RAINBOW Series Classes
TMU’s free Group Fitness Program runs all summer with more than 20 drop-in classes like pilates, yoga, spin and dance, open to all fitness levels and TMU members—no registration needed.
New this year: the RAINBOW Series, including Rainbow Dance Party and Rainbow Ride + Core + Stretch. Led by 2SLGBTQIA+ instructors, these new classes create an inclusive space for community members and allies. Everyone is invited to join, move and connect.

The Image Centre’s Spring/Summer Exhibitions
The Image Centre (IMC) has unveiled an exciting lineup for its spring/summer 2025 season, featuring Scotiabank Photography Award: Clara Gutsche (external link) , a survey exhibition celebrating the career of the renowned Montreal-based photographer.
Also on view until August 2, Alanis Obomsawin: Filmstrips, Educational Shorts from the NFB (1972/1975) (external link) and Caroline Monnet: Creatura Dada (external link) among many.

(external link) The 2SLGBTQ+ in STEM Conference is an annual nationwide event dedicated to celebrating and advancing the contributions of the 2SLGBTQ+ community in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Students from across Canada can connect with organizations seeking talent, helping to bridge existing talent gaps in various STEM and STEM-related fields. Tackling Negative Emotions
Graduate school has a way of bringing out emotions you didn't know you had—frustration over research setbacks or even anxiety about career prospects. Rather than pretending these feelings don't exist or letting them derail your progress, this session focuses on building the emotional toolkit every grad student needs. You'll get a realistic look at your current emotional patterns and walk away with practical strategies that actually work when the pressure's on.

June is Mzawe Kiing Anishinaabek Giizis / National Indigenous Peoples Month at TMU, a time to honour and celebrate the rich cultures, histories and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples. Join this series of events and opportunities for education, celebration and reflection to honour Indigenous voices, experiences and achievements. All are welcome.
The Urban Farm offers a variety of experiential workshops and education-focused events to the university community. From interactive training in the fields to deep dives into the history of our food systems, there are plenty of opportunities for you to get involved at the Urban Farm!

Summer Open Farm on the DCC rooftop
Spend your Wednesday lunch hours taking in the sun and breathtaking views of the city by visiting TMU’s Urban Farm, located on the 8th floor of the Daphne Cockwell Health Sciences Complex (DCC). Each Summer Open Farm allows guests free access to the DCC rooftop farm where you can relax amid TMU’s first purpose-built rooftop farm, dedicated to Black food sovereignty and Indigenous food sovereignty initiatives. While visiting, be sure to stop by the pop-up farm stand where you can purchase fresh produce, cut flowers or grab a glass of homemade iced tea, all made with ingredients grown at the Urban Farm. Wave of Change: World Oceans Week Mural
Join TMU students, faculty and staff in creating a mural to celebrate World Oceans Week and National Indigenous Peoples Month. Using reclaimed materials, the mural will honour our marine and freshwater environments and highlight our shared responsibility to protect waterways. The finished artwork will be displayed in the SLC Amphitheatre.

As part of an annual tradition, the Black Excellence Committee is distributing exclusive Kente stoles to those who graduated in October 2024 or are expecting to graduate in June 2025.

(external link) Graduating Black students are invited to mark this milestone with their loved ones at TMU’s sixth annual Black Excellence Graduation Celebration. The evening will feature live music, great food and the warmth of community. A private gathering for Black graduates begins at 4 p.m., followed by a larger celebration with family and friends at 5 p.m. in the Student Learning Centre. All TMU students, faculty and staff are welcome to sign up as volunteers to help make the event memorable.

Summer Jumpstart is your go-to pre-orientation program to help you feel confident for your start at TMU. Academic sessions will be held virtually, while community and well-being events happen in person. The more sessions you attend, the more chances you’ll have to win great raffle prizes.

If you’re looking for a summer camp for your kids this summer, TMU has a variety of camp programs, including discovery camps in architecture, digital creativity and film, as well as sports camps in basketball, hockey, volleyball and multi-sport and leadership programs.
