TMU Bold’s biggest moments and standout stories of 2024–25

From record-breaking overtime thrillers to playoff upsets and personal milestones, this past year, the TMU Bold made their mark.
With national rankings, all-star honours—and even a place in the Hockey Hall of Fame—it was a year of grit, grind and game-changing moments.
From the rink to the court to the pitch, see below for how the TMU Bold brought the heat.
Men’s Hockey
TMU wins longest game in national university men’s hockey history
At the U Sports national championships, TMU finished fourth and took part in the longest game in the league’s hockey history—defeating Mount Royal in the fifth overtime. Connor Bowie, Jaden Condotta and Kai Edmonds were named to the OUA West Second All-Star Team, while Jordan D’Intino earned a spot on the OUA West All-Rookie Team.
The hard-fought victory even earned the Bold recognition from the Hockey Hall of Fame: the puck and hockey stick from the winning goal will be on display there later this year.
The Bold finished first in the OUA West with a 17–11 record, reached the Queen’s Cup Championship for the second straight season and qualified for the U SPORTS national tournament for the third time in four years.
Women’s Hockey
Slaying the giants
The Bold women's hockey team returned to the playoffs in 2024-25, clinching the final spot in the OUA East with an 11–15 record. TMU played spoiler throughout the season, upsetting nationally ranked powerhouse teams from Guelph, Nipissing, Laurier and the University of Toronto. Megan Breen set a new TMU single-season record with 15 assists and was named an OUA First-Team All-Star.
Men's Basketball
Rising to the top
The Bold men's basketball team was consistently nationally ranked and reached the OUA semifinals after posting a 15–7 record—good for second in the OUA Central. The conference’s leading scorer, Aaron Rhooms, paced the Blue and Gold with a league-best 22 points per game. He was named OUA Player of the Year and a U SPORTS First-Team All-Canadian. Kevin Toth earned OUA All-Rookie honours.
Women’s basketball: Full-court fire
The Bold women's squad claimed first place in the OUA Central with a 17–5 record and advanced to the OUA semifinals, where they fell to the No. 1-ranked Carleton Ravens. TMU spent most of the season in the national rankings and won eight straight games between January 12 and February 5. Guard Kaillie Hall surpassed 1,000 career points and was named an OUA First-Team All-Star.

Men’s Soccer
Hitting new heights, honours
The men’s TMU Bold soccer team spent most of the season in the U SPORTS national rankings, climbing as high as No. 3 midway through the year. The Bold finished second in the OUA East, defeated the Carleton Ravens in the quarterfinals, and fell to the York Lions in the semifinals. Four players earned OUA East All-Star honours: Akeim Villous was named to the First Team, while Chris Campoli, Dante Ferraro and Jevontae Layne were named to the Second Team. Following the season, Layne was selected first overall in the 2024 U SPORTS CPL Draft.
Women’s Soccer
Scoring a shutout record
The women’s Bold soccer team had one of their best seasons in program history, tying their single-season win record (7), finishing fourth in the OUA East, and hosting a playoff game at Downsview Park for the first time in history. The Bold’s defence was their strong suit as they recorded a program-record seven shutouts. Natalie Moynihan and Taliyah Walker were named OUA East Second-Team All-Stars.
Men’s Volleyball
Top triumphs
The Bold men's volleyball team narrowly missed the playoffs, finishing with an 8–12 record and tied for the final spot, but losing the tiebreaker. TMU notched several key victories throughout the year, including a dominant 3–0 sweep over nationally ranked York in the penultimate game of the season. Alex King and Jacob Walker earned OUA All-Star recognition.
Women’s Volleyball
Smashing milestones
The Bold women's volleyball team recorded four wins during the 2024-25 season and multiple players registered career milestones, including 500 kills for Scarlett Gingera and 1000 digs for Mary Rioflorido. Gingera was named an OUA Third-Team All-Star.
Homecoming
In September 2024, roughly 2,300 fans came out to cheer on the TMU Bold men’s hockey team in a homecoming match that saw TMU beat Brock University 3-2. The women’s Bold contingent also took on Carleton University in their homecoming game in January.
