The TMU community is invited to share their feedback through consultations for the university’s Discrimination and Harassment Prevention Policy Review.

At Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), we are committed to promoting equity and maintaining university environments where all community members can learn, work, live and flourish with dignity and respect.

The Discrimination and Harassment Prevention Policy (DHPP) reflects TMU’s commitment to addressing all forms of discrimination and harassment at the university. The policy does this by providing direction to all students, faculty and staff about our shared rights and responsibilities to promote and protect human rights and ensure legal compliance with the Ontario Human Rights Code. The DHPP also provides for a fair and confidential complaint resolution process for community members who may experience discrimination or harassment.

TMU will begin a DHPP Review in the fall of 2024. Conducted by the Office of the Vice-President, Equity Community and Inclusion (OVPECI), the review is expected to continue into the spring of 2025.

The DHPP Review will ensure that the policy reflects TMU’s institutional commitment to preventing and addressing discrimination and harassment with a focus on human rights best practices and continuing to support our diverse community’s evolving needs.

Creating an equitable, inclusive and respectful environment is a goal and collective responsibility at TMU shared by all students, faculty, contract lecturers, staff and community members. As part of the DHPP Review, we invite TMU community members to participate in consultations this fall. All voices, concerns, and feedback are valued and welcomed.
