The sun is finally out in Toronto and warm weather is drawing crowds to patios and parks. After a long winter, the summer is a time for students to relax and explore the city.

We caught up with three international students to find out what they are planning this summer.

Where are you from?

New Delhi, India

Why did you choose TMU?

I was interested in coming to Toronto because it’s a big, metropolitan city that reminds me of back home. I wanted to be downtown and close to all the big companies that offer many unique job opportunities.

What are your summer plans?

I’ll be working as the orientation events leader for the International Student Support office, planning events for Orientation Week geared towards international students. I’m excited to put my own spin on these events and help others just starting their TMU journey.

I’m also excited to spend the summer in Toronto and meet new people with a friend that I know from back home. The city really comes alive during the summer and I can’t wait to go to the Toronto Islands, bike around every day and eat lots of ice cream.

Where are you from?

Lahore, Pakistan

Why did you choose TMU?

I was drawn to the program and all the city has to offer. As a mature student, I was looking for something that would challenge me and motivate me to be better. I’m learning the tools of the trade from some incredible professors and I’m excited to continue adding new skills to my resume.

What are your summer plans?

I’m an avid cyclist and my goal is to cycle to Niagara Falls this summer or other small towns in Ontario. I’m proud of my cycling abilities – it’s something that keeps me going as I continue to settle in here in Toronto.

Where are you from?

Gurugram, India

Why did you choose TMU?

I’ve always wanted to know what makes airplanes fly through the sky and when I was looking for where to study, TMU offered the best aerospace engineering program in the country. I also wanted to study in an inclusive, diverse city like Toronto, which is something that was important to me as an international student.

What are your summer plans?

I am doing a co-op program all summer and working as a business analyst intern at Litens Automotive Group. I just started, so I’m still learning what my job will entail, but I know that I will mostly be focusing on inventory management and resolving shipping issues. It’s a fast-paced environment and I need to make sure I’m being proactive as problems arise.
