The TMU community is invited to offer their feedback on the proposed graduate program in law at the Lincoln Alexander School of Law, including both LLM and PhD programs.

The Lincoln Alexander School of Law has presented a letter of intent (LOI) proposing a graduate program in Law, comprised of both LLM and PhD degrees.  The LOI will be available online for review until January 27, 2023. While the customary review period is 30 days, the LOI will be posted for six weeks, to account for the university’s mid-year closure from Monday, December 26, 2022 to Friday, January 6, 2023.

The program will be geared to Juris Doctor (JD) and Bachelor of Laws (LLB) graduates interested in pursuing further legal education. Its focus will be on legal theory and its applications in a wide range of areas, especially areas in which the Lincoln Alexander School has proven research expertise. Topics that will receive particular attention include access to justice in Ontario, racial justice, the incorporation of Indigenous legal frameworks, the uses of technology in law, and the analysis of new policy frameworks to ensure individual privacy and security in the digital world.

More information on the proposed program can be found in the LOI.

Please review the LOI and provide feedback and comments by e-mailing provost@torontomu.ca before January 27, 2023.

Thank you in advance for your review and input,

Roberta Iannacito-Provenzano
Interim Provost and Vice-President, Academic
