It’s a special time of year on the Ryerson campus – spring convocation. Students have put in the hard work and will be recognized during ceremonies between June 12 and June 19.

We’ve prepared a handy guide on everything you need to know about spring convocation at Ryerson:

All convocation ceremonies will take place at the Mattamy Athletic Centre (MAC), 50 Carlton St.

Student tips & tricks:

Before:

  • Check your convocation schedule for the right date and time of your ceremony
  • RSVP to attend
  • Check RAMSS to confirm the official name that will appear on your award document
  • ARRIVE ON TIME FOR YOUR CEREMONY
  • Bring your RSVP confirmation to your ceremony, or bring your ONE Card
  • Leave bigger belongings with your guests
  • Wear comfortable shoes – you will be standing and walking up flights of stairs

During:

  • Pick up regalia and line up in numerical order
  • You will proceed to the Convocation Arena where you will be seated by line marshals
  • Your photo will be taken as your cross the stage, as well as afterward
  • Don’t forget to pick up your award document before you go back to your seat

After:

  • You did it, congratulations!
  • Enjoy light refreshments on the fourth floor
  • If you gave photo consent, you will receive login information to see convocation photos

Guest tips and tricks:

  • If you’re driving, leave time to find parking (it is strongly recommended that you take TTC)
  • Doors open 1 hour and 45 minutes before the start of the ceremony
  • There is no assigned seating
  • Bring your ticket with you! Seating cannot be guaranteed without it
  • Wear layered clothing, Toronto weather fluctuates
  • Flower arrangements are available for purchase
  • Convocation ceremonies typically last two hours
  • Be mindful of not blocking the aisles while taking photos

Staff tips and tricks:

  • Arrive 45 minutes before the start of the ceremony
  • The Academic Procession will be marshalled on the third floor of the MAC (MAC 3319)
  • Academic regalia is required
  • Make sure to leave time to get your academic gown, if needed
  • Wearing a hood is not required, but enjoyed
