This workshop, hosted by the Toronto Metropolitan University Career, Co-op & Student Success Centre, provides a comprehensive guide to building and refining your creative portfolio. You will learn how to transition from simply showcasing projects to developing a professional brand that effectively communicates your skills and passion to recruiters.
Workshop Overview
This workshop covers four primary pillars of portfolio development:
1. Purpose: Defining Your "Why"
Understand that a portfolio is an organized collection that showcases your creativity, design thinking, and practical abilities.
Learn how to use your portfolio to differentiate yourself and create a memorable personal brand.
2. Format: Choosing the Right Platform
Explore various hosting platforms including WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, Adobe Portfolio, Behance, and Dribbble.
Learn how to utilize unconventional platforms like Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube to demonstrate creative abilities.
Understand the importance of an intuitive, clear, and concise layout that is easy to navigate.
3. Content: Quality Over Quantity
Identify sources for portfolio content, including internships, freelancing, academic projects, and personal concept work.
