The International Issues Discussion (IID) series at Toronto Metropolitan University will present its fifth and final talk of the Fall 2025 series, in partnership with the Canadian Association for Security and Intelligence Studies (CASIS): "Cybersecurity, Geopolitics, and Canada's National Interests".

Our guest will be Robert Gordon, Strategic Advisor of the Canadian Cyber Threat Exchange (CCTX), Canada’s private sector organization for the sharing and analysis of cyber threat information and collaboration across all sectors. Prior to establishing the CCTX, he was a Director, Global Cyber Security at CGI.  Bob also had a long career in Canada’s security, intelligence, and law enforcement organizations, which included being the architect of Canada’s first Cyber Security Strategy while at Public Safety Canada, the Associate Chief (Senior Assistant Deputy Minister) at Communications Security Establishment, and Assistant Director (Assistant Deputy Minister) at the Canadian Security Intelligence Service. Bob sits on several Boards of Directors and Advisory Boards, including the Mastercard Emerging Leaders Cyber Initiative, Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst, at TMU.

His talk will be held in-person on Wednesday, November 26th between 6:30 and 8:30 pm in ENG 103 (the Vari Engineering Building, 245 Church Street, Toronto). Attendance is free and everyone is welcome.

Founded in 2005, the IID is a non-partisan, student-led forum designed to engage all members of the TMU community on major events and issues in contemporary global affairs through reasoned, objective, and scholarly discourse.
