Andrew Lochhead: From Dundas Street to Dublin

Date
November 24, 2025
Time
5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. ET

Media and Design Innovation PhD Candidate Andrew Lochhead will give a presentation on his experience as a visiting scholar at University College Dublin (UCD) on Monday, November 24, 2025 in The Creative School Catalyst at 5:30 PM.

Lochhead will speak about his arts-based approach to landscape research, the role of critical and creative walking practices in interpreting built environments, and how his doctoral studies, creative pursuits, and professional development were furthered by his time in the Irish capital.

This past October Andrew was a guest of UCD’s School of History and College of Arts & Humanities, where he spent a month studying the feasibility of a walking-based interpretive strategies in promoting a better understanding of the connections between UCD’s central Belfield campus, and plantation slavery in the Caribbean.

His travel to Dublin was sponsored by the Craig Dobbin Legacy Program, a scholarship administered by the Ireland Canada University Foundation and the Craig Dobbin Centre for Canadian Studies at University College Dublin that funds and promotes collaboration and exchange between Irish and Canadian academics. Fifteen such scholarships are awarded to Canadians each year.

The Catalyst is located on the second floor of the Rogers Communication Centre at 80 Gould Street on Toronto Metropolitan University’s campus.

Light refreshments and snacks will be served courtesy of the Media and Design Innovation Program. All are welcome.
