This is a special workshop and invitation to join a select group of educators at Woodland Cultural Centre to experience, participate, and contribute to the launch of the WhereWeStand: Multimedia Learning Resource (external link)  (WWS: MLR). The resource provides digital resources, practical lesson plans, and pedagogical guidance on a variety of topics related to Indigenous peoples and Newcomer experiences captured in the 8 creative projects by 14 participants from across Turtle Island. Intended for use by teachers, educators, administrators, and community members, the WhereWeStand: Multimedia Learning Resource shows clear connections to the Ontario Curriculum and creates the foundation for work towards implementation of the 94 TRC Calls to Action, while empowering teachers to deliver Indigenous content in classrooms with authenticity and confidence.

Included in the Multimedia Learning Resource are short pre-recorded virtual class visits by the 14 artists as well as greetings from Indigenous elders, professors, and community leaders.

The Multimedia Learning Resource is available to educators without cost through the project’s website (external link)  and is also available through partnerships with educational organizations, including the Woodland Cultural Centre (external link)  and  Saagajiwe - On the frontier of Indigenous Renaissance at Toronto Metropolitan University.

WhereWeStand (external link)  (WWS) is a creative, multimedia storytelling project that brings together a cohort of Indigenous peoples and newcomers to co-create expressions of identity on the colonial construct of Canada, situated on Turtle Island. This workshop is co-convened by Heather George, Woodland Cultural Centre, Cyrus Sundar Singh, and Anna Triandafyllidou, CERC Migration, Toronto Metropolitan University.

This workshop will include a guided tour of the former Mohawk Institute Residential School, and lunch will be provided.
