Richard Wen won Dr. C. Ravi and Shanti Ravindran Award for Outstanding Doctoral Thesis in 2023 for his PhD thesis entitled "Generative Design of Geospatial Interventions with Automated Machine Learning and Bayesian Optimization".

PhD students teamed up and participated in Mississauga Open Data Hackathon 2024 and won the first place in the competition.

Gopika Rajan received best paper award honorable mention from ISPRS Technical Commission IV Symposium held in Fremantle, Australia in October 2024.

GGL team members volunteered at Geoinformatics 2024 - International Conference on Geoinformatics, held on Toronto Metropolitan University campus in Toronto on August 14-16, 2024.

Shishuo Xu has successfully defended her disseration entitled "Sensing and Detecting Small-scale Events using Geosocial Media Data" on January 8, 2020.
