The Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science (FEAS) is home to innovators, entrepreneurs, and change-makers. While our community, made up of talented engineers and architects, is working to address the most significant challenges impacting our world today, it’s our goal to reflect on our progress and celebrate each triumph along the way.

At the heart of this momentum are the people making a real difference. From the leaders shaping the next generation of problem-solvers, to the individuals investing in and supporting our community, to the current and former students inspiring change around the globe, these initiatives highlight the incredible impact of the entire FEAS community.

Research excellence is central to everything we do at FEAS. Our faculty members are advancing discovery and innovation across disciplines—from clean energy and smart cities to health technologies and artificial intelligence. FEAS is home to 10 Canada Research Chairs (opens in new window) , 4 world-renowned Industrial Research Chairs endowed chairs, and a network of centres and innovation zones (opens in new window)  that foster interdisciplinary collaboration.

We have outpaced all other undergraduate-focused universities in peer-reviewed publications, with a 764% increase over the past 15 years—demonstrating both the quality and impact of our work. Donor support plays a vital role in this success—enabling groundbreaking research and providing students with opportunities to learn alongside leading experts. Together, we’re creating solutions to complex challenges and helping shape a better future through research that matters.

Scholarships and awards are a vital part of how we support student success at FEAS. By removing financial barriers, they ensure that every talented student—regardless of background—can access a world-class engineering and architectural education. Our top priorities include expanding entrance scholarships, improving access for students from underrepresented groups, and attracting academic excellence.

These awards not only celebrate achievement but also affirm that our community stands behind each student’s journey. Through the generosity of alumni and donors, we’re building a more inclusive, ambitious, and empowered generation of future leaders. We are proud to support more than 250 students with over $600,000 of scholarship funding every year.

Engineering outreach at FEAS is more than just education - it’s about creating access and expanding opportunity. Our programs are grounded in a commitment to equity, access, and representation; designed to spark curiosity and build confidence among youth who have traditionally been underrepresented in STEM—especially girls and young women, Black youth, and Indigenous youth. Through hands-on activities, mentorship, and real-world problem-solving, initiatives like Go ENG, WEMADEIT, and Global Changemakers Engineering Competition, our programs (opens in new window)  open the door to future possibilities. Whether through school-year workshops or summer camps like Eureka! and FuturEng, we create welcoming spaces where young people can explore engineering and architectural science, develop their skills, and see themselves as future changemakers. By breaking down systemic barriers and fostering inclusive participation, FEAS is shaping a more diverse, equitable, and empowered next generation of engineers and innovators.

A planned gift is a charitable donation that can be arranged during your lifetime, but will be used by Toronto Metropolitan in the future. Planned gifts often enable donors to make significant gifts while also fulfilling important tax and financial goals. The most common type of planned gift is a bequest, but there are others, including: charitable remainder trusts, gifts of residual interest, life insurance, and gifts of RRIFs and RRSPs.
