MUES Night of Recognition: A Night to Remember
On May 2, members of the Dean’s Office were proud to join the Metropolitan Undergraduate Engineering Society (MUES) in celebrating this year’s Night of Recognition. An annual event, NoR honours the exceptional contributions of individual student leaders, engineering design teams and groups, who go above and beyond to support the TMU engineering community.
Organized by Biomedical engineering student, Kendall Falconer, the evening brought together faculty, staff, students, and alumni to reflect on a year of innovation, collaboration, and community spirit. More than 25 awards were presented, recognizing leadership in academics, extracurricular activities, and student life. From engineering design teams to student groups that foster equity and inclusion, the event showcased the many ways engineering students are shaping a bold future.
A highlight of the evening was the Engineering Alumni Excellence Award, presented for the first time by Executive Director, Advancement, Emma Grant. This new award honours an engineering alum who exemplifies the values of lifelong engagement and leadership through mentorship, industry partnerships, and continued involvement in the TMU community. Selected by the Development, Alumni Relations & Engagement office, we are proud to recognise Maria Patrick (Biomedical Engineering, 2023) the inaugural recipient, setting a high bar for future nominees.
FEAS is also delighted to recognise the recipients of the TMU Engineering Outstanding Staff Member Award, which celebrates TMU staff who have made a significant impact within the engineering community. This year’s recipients, Sean Siddik (Chief Administrative Officer), Kris Bertram (First-Year Engineering Academic Advisor & Learning Experience Designer), and Wendy Xiong (Junior Financial Analyst), were recognized for their dedication, mentorship, and behind-the-scenes contributions that support student success.
The Night of Recognition stands as a testament to the strength and spirit of the FEAS community - and a reminder that engineering at TMU is powered not only by innovation, but by people.
