Ryerson University Online Course on Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Begins Next Week -- Register Now!

January 10, 2021

Starting the week of January 18, Ryerson University's Chang School of Continuing Education will be offering its online course on Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability, taught by Dr. Kernaghan Webb, the Director of the Ryerson University Institute for the Study of CSR.  "We have individuals from around the world, from all walks of life, taking the course, and given that we are tackling environmental, social and governance issues of corporations that transcend national borders, it makes for a rich and fascinating learning experience," said Dr. Webb,

The course is designed for a post-secondary audience, is open admission, with no prerequisites (there is a fee). "As a continuing education course, this course is not part of a degree, and therefore is widely accessible, unlike our other CSR courses that are, for example, offered only to Bachelor of Commerce students and MBA students." Dr. Webb went on to say:  "The course is intended for professional development, it covers a lot of ground in a series of sequential learning modules, giving course participants a strong basis for understanding what corporate responsibility is and what it is not, the varying responses of different sectors, as well as practical 'ready to use' ideas for systematic corporate responsibility implementation. Whether you are just now 'dipping your toes' in the subject, or are already involved in corporate responsibility activities, this course should be helpful to you."

All aspects of the course are online. A certificate is provided to participants upon completion of the course. It is possible to take the course on its own, as a standalone, or as part of an assemblage of other courses: for example, the course is an elective in Ryerson University's Chang School Certificate in Sustainability Management and Enterprise Process Excellence.

The ongoing Ryerson CSR Institute series of "In Conversation" zoom sessions with CSR thought leaders -- a series that is attracting a global audience -- aligns well with the course, at both a conceptual and practical level, and gives  a good idea of the range of issues that are covered in the course.

Registration for the Winter, 2021 session, which starts January 18 will be closing shortly. If you have further questions about the course, contact kernaghan.webb@torontomu.ca, and to register, visit the course page CZMN 200 - Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability.
