This TMU CSR Institute "in-conversation" zoom session is one of a series that is exploring the viability and feasibility of creating a multi-sector, multi-actor global coalition in support of the rule of law. In the past, multi-sector, multi-actor global responses to particular issues have arguably contributed to resolution of those issues. For example, some might say that the varied, multi-sector, multi-actor global condemnation of the apartheid regime in South Africa helped lead to the termination of apartheid in South Africa

This particular zoom session is examining existing global rule of law initiatives, including the UN Global Compact's Business and the Rule of Law (external link)  initiative (and the related SDG 16 Business Framework (external link) ), the American Bar Association's Rule of Law Initiative (external link) , the International Bar Association's Rule of Law Forum (external link) , the LexisNexis Foundation Rule of Law Impact Tracker (external link) , the Bingham Centre for the Rule of Law Business Network, and the World Justice Project's Rule of Law Index (external link)  initiative. The objective of the session is to get a better understanding of the origins, purpose, substance, achievements, challenges, and forward plan of these initiatives, with a view to determining how if at all they could support or link to a possible global ROL coalition.

The review of these initiatives is undertaken by Dr. Kernaghan Webb (initially scheduled second speaker no longer available).
